A Better Understanding...

We at Moonlite Transitions understand the importance of making educated and informed decisions. To many of you, this is all too new and confusing. DO NOT WORRY! This is why we're here.

To help you better understand, here is a list of the most common Assisted Living terms you will  most likely come across:

  • RCFE: Residential Care Facility
  • Assisted Living Facility/Center:

A larger Apartment style living facility also known as an "ALF" or "ALC", offers apartment style homes for the more independent senior. There are common activity areas such as home theater rooms and libraries. There are musical and art events too, providing opportunities to socialize and meet new friends. Meals are provided in communal dining areas. Housekeeping and laundry services are available along with varying levels of assistance for daily living when necessary.
  • Board & Care Home:
This is the highest level in assisted living/custodial care. Usually about 6 residents in the more intimate setting of a residential home with very personalized care and interaction.

Both types of facilities monitor medication, help with daily living needs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care and many other needs. Caregivers are available 24 hours a day to provide help and support.

They also offer planned activities, transportation options and an individualized care plan.
  • In Home Care:
We can provide screened personnel to help with meal preparations, home modification needs, house-keeping chores, transportation or simple companionship.
  • Respite:
Temporary care given in the client's home or at an RCFE in order to provide Family care-givers with "Time off".
  • Hospice:
A Free Service available to all persons facing "end of life" issues. A Hospice worker can discuss and coordinate the many benefits available to the client which may be utilized up to two years before death.
